kaihaukai dinner

A kaihaukai is a feast which acknowledges the exchange and sharing of food and knowledge, and recognises the importance in creating and maintaining relationships. Matariki is an important time to do this.

The Realness and Eat New Zealand come together to celebrate the connection between food and Matariki on Monday 13th June. It will be an evening of story-telling by Arataki, wānanga (learning) and enjoying the warmth of each other’s company.

You'll be fed by the Realness community & hosted by the warmth of the Ima's whānau.

Bring something to gift the koha tēpu (table) to acknowledge the exchange (as an example last year people bought seeds, preserves, creations, plants, mahinga kai and writings.)

This promises to be an evening of deliciousness and connection, everyone is welcome.
