INTRODUCTION

The Realness NZ Limited (we, us, our), the owner of the website at www.therealness.world, complies with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 (the Act) when dealing with personal information. Personal information is information about an identifiable individual (a natural person).

This policy sets out how we will collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information.

WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT

Directly from you

We collect the following information directly from you.  

When you register for, or login to, an account or listing on our website or related services, we collect your name, email address, user name and password, the name, phone number, address and location of your business and any other information we require or ask for to set you up with an account.  When you offer us a koha (a Te Reo Māori term meaning to offer, or a contribution)for your account or listing on our website, we collect your credit card information and any other information you submit to us for billing purposes.

When you fill in a contact or enquiry form on any of our website, call us, meet us in person or otherwise contact us, we collect your name, email address, phone number and any other information you choose to provide to us.

When you sign up to our newsletter and other electronic alerts, we collect your name, email address and any other information you provide to us when you ask to receive our newsletter or other alerts.

When you respond to our feedback surveys, we collect your name, email address and any other information you choose to include in your response.

When you refer another person to use any of our website or related services, we collect your name and email address and the other person’s name and email address and any other information you choose to include in the referral.

When you post a listing on any of our website, we collect the information you include in your listing.

We use a third party service provider to process credit card transactions.  We do not have access to your credit card information.  The name of this third party provider will generally be displayed when you are requested to enter your credit card information. Automatically when you use our website

We may also collect technical information when you visit or log in to our website.  This may include information about the way users arrive at, browse through and interact with our website.  We may collect this type of technical information through the use of cookies and other means.  Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive to enable our systems to recognise your browser.  

If you want to disable cookies, you may do so by changing the settings on your browser. However, if you do so, you may not be able to use all of the functions on our website.

Where possible, we collect personal information from you directly. However, if you have a listing on any of our website, sometimes we may collect personal information that is publicly available about you and your business, including via your website and your social media feeds such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

We do not sell your personal information (and will not sell it without providing you a right to opt out).

A business that supports our services and products may be located outside New Zealand and outside the country where you are located.  This may mean your personal information is held and processed outside New Zealand and outside the country where you are located.

We will take reasonable steps to keep your personal information safe from loss, unauthorised activity, or other misuse.

 

ACCESSING AND CORRECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Subject to certain grounds for refusal set out in the Act, you have the right to access your readily retrievable personal information that we hold and to request a correction to your personal information.  Before you exercise this right, we will need evidence to confirm that you are the individual to whom the personal information relates.

In respect of a request for correction, if we think the correction is reasonable and we are reasonably able to change the personal information, we will make the correction. If we do not make the correction, we will take reasonable steps to note on the personal information that you requested the correction.

We may charge you our reasonable costs of providing to you copies of your personal information or correcting that information.

 

INTERNET USE

While we take reasonable steps to maintain secure internet connections, if you provide us with personal information over the internet, the provision of that information is at your own risk.

If you have a listing for your business on our website and include your personal information in that listing, you acknowledge and agree that the information you post is publicly available.

If you follow a link on our websites to another site, the owner of that site will have its own privacy policy relating to your personal information.  We suggest you review that site’s privacy policy before you provide personal information.
