Aunty's In Awanui Has Opened

Aunty’s in Awanui is officially open!

You might be wondering… What is Aunty’s?

Aunty’s is a little bit of everything Pai (good).

It’s a Realness brick-and-mortar shop stocked with goods from Māori makers who whakapapa or live in Te Tai Tokerau, as well as makers who are part of The Realness directory. Think gifts, treats, and those little luxuries you didn’t know you needed -like a Curio Noir Hard soap by Tiffany Witehira (Ngāpuhi) or a pair of Koloa Tapa earrings by Sonia (Tangata Tiriti ) & Fire (Tonga).

Its a space for kaumātua to hang out, korero, and feel at home.

It’s a place to stand in solidarity with kaupapa who believe in collective liberation, and who celebrate Tangata Whenua & Tangata Tiriti.

It’s a mash-up of a get-together spot where you can call in, share, and just be.

Right now, it’s a toa/store, but its feeling like its gona want to evolve into a workshop space, creative hub, community mara, and a place to grab an iced tea or make something with your tamariki. Whatever it needs to be, that’s what it’ll be.

Spring hours: Thursday–Saturday, 10:30am–2:30pm (or whenever the crowd’s still kicking).
Summer hours: We’ll be there most days, between swims-We will pop summer hours up shortly.

Find us: Corner of SH1 and SH10 in Awanui, Muriwhenua - look for the charcoal whare with the pink awning, flying the Tino Rangatiratanga and Whakaputanga flags in the garden.

Pop in for a gift from a Realness maker, find a local treat for yourself, or even just to say HEY. And if you’re after essentials like a Murrays lip balm or a pair of earings to finisih that outfit, we’ve got you covered.
